KARACHI:The University of Karachi and Goldensun Petroleum Services have signed a memorandum of understanding at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat.
As per the MoU, Goldensun Petroleum Services which is a subsidiary of GPT Beijing, China, will provide 10 licenses of GES- a common platform to conduct interpretation of geoscientific and engineering datasets, and 3D modeling for geology and geophysics, petroleum engineering and mining engineering works by integrating seismic, bore-hole, historical field production and outcrop data—to the KU department of geology, said a spokesperson of KU on Monday.
According to the MoU, the licensed software will be used by faculty members and students to conduct academic studies, research, training, and industrial projects related to the exploration and exploitation of energy and geo-resources in Pakistan.
The KU department and geology and Goldensun Petroleum Services have also agreed that the subsidiary of a Chinese company will provide training to the faculty and students of the department from time to time, on the operations of the gifted software that is commercially equivalent to US$ 1 million.
The KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi and Ghulam Shabeer, Chief Executive Officer Goldensun Petroleum Services (SMC- PVT) Limited inked the MoU documents.
