KU, SCIENUVO Applied Environmental Services sign MoU for environmental projects, field learning

Karachi:The Institute of Environmental Studies (IES) at the University of Karachi and SCIENUVO Applied Environmental Services (SAES) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to launch the SCIENUVO Green Ambassador Program 2026-2027, a one-year environmental education, engagement, and action initiative for enrolled IES students.



According to the MoU, under the Green Ambassador Program, IES students will participate in student-led environmental projects and field learning, tree plantation and plant stewardship, environmental awareness activities, campus clean-up drives, waste awareness campaigns, sustainability workshops, and green innovation activities.



Founder of SCIENUVO (SAES) Dr Sadia Ali informed the audience that the program aims to connect classroom learning with real-world environmental practice, provide students with exposure to industry and experts, and build their practical and professional skills.



He added that at the end of the year, both parties will conduct a final impact review, followed by recognition and certification for active and committed Green Ambassadors.



KU Director IES Dr Muhammad Farrakh Nawaz stated that the Institute focuses on promoting environmental awareness, sustainability education, practical learning, student engagement, institutional capacity building, and meaningful environmental action initiatives.



He emphasized that IES often collaborates with private sector organizations to establish durable partnerships so that students can benefit from their experience.



The KU IES has nominated Dr Aamir Alamgir as the focal person, while Muhammad Shaheer Ahmed will serve as the focal person on behalf of SAES. The MoU signing ceremony was held at the KU Vice Chancellor Secretariat on Thursday.



The documents were signed by KU Director Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization Professor Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan, KU Director IES Dr Muhammad Farrakh Nawaz, and Founder of SCIENUVO (SAES) Dr Sadia Ali, and Chief Executive Officer Ali Imran. SCIENUVO (SAES) Program Manager Muhammad Shaheer Ahmed, ORIC team, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
