Lahore: After nearly a month, residents of the provincial capital enjoyed a rare sunny winter day on Saturday, as the city’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped below 200.
According to data from IQAir, MM Alam Road was the only area in the city where AQI remained above 200, reaching a peak of 304. In most other localities, the AQI was below 200. Environmental experts reported that the city’s average AQI stood at 143, categorizing it as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.” They also highlighted that PM2.5 concentrations in Lahore were currently 10.5 times higher than the WHO’s annual air quality guideline.
Key AQI readings from other areas included Sundar (168), Bedian Road (163), Polo Ground Cantt (156), University of Management and Technology (153), and WWF-Pakistan (152).
