Lahore commissioner orders swift rainwater drainage

Lahore

LAHORE:Lahore Commissioner Numan Yousaf on Thursday directed all departments concerned to remain on high alert and ensure swift drainage of rainwater following heavy rainfall in different parts of the provincial capital.

He instructed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to keep their teams in the field and ensure that major roads and underpasses remain clear to maintain smooth traffic flow on a working day.

Assistant commissioners must personally supervise drainage operations in their tehsils, while WASA town directors closely monitor their areas to ensure prompt action.

He also directed field teams of the Central Business District (CBD), Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and other departments to remain alert at their designated points. He ordered that disposal station pumps remain operational, screens be kept clean and generators be used at disposal stations in areas facing electricity outages to ensure uninterrupted drainage operations.
