BAHAWALPUR:The Law Students Society at the Faculty of Law, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, organized an anti-harassment awareness seminar on Tuesday.
Deputy Director of Student Affairs, Ass Muhammad, organized the ceremony. In her address on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti mentioned that the anti-harassment committee is actively and efficiently functioning in accordance with the instructions of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
The Higher Education Commission Policy on Harassment is available on the University website. The names and phone numbers of the chairperson and members of the anti-harassment committee are prominently displayed on all campuses. The university’s policy mandates that after admissions, students, especially female students, receive a briefing about the anti-harassment policy and committee in all departments.
Seminars and workshops are regularly organized for this purpose. Students may report such complaints to male and female teachers designated by the Directorate of Student Affairs. All complaints related to harassment are promptly addressed, and the guilty parties are punished. She emphasized that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment and called on all stakeholders to fulfill their responsibilities in this regard while discouraging false complaints.
Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Rao Imran Habib, and Director of Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Director of the Center for Harassment and Discrimination at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Abdul Rauf Javed, DSP Legal at Bahawalpur Police, and Zunira Latif, Incharge of the Anti-Harassment Cell at Bahawalpur Police, participated as guest speakers.
