LAHORE:The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday issued bailable arrest warrants of the inspector general of police (IGP), Islamabad, over failing to appear in a contempt petition despite a notice for the purpose.
The court issued bailable arrest warrants for IGP, Islamabad, subject to furnishing bonds of Rs 50,000 and asked him to appear on September 18.
Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf passed the orders while hearing a contempt petition filed by Qaisara Elahi, wife of former chief minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, over the latter’s arrest from Lahore.
The court adjourned further proceedings of the contempt petition after the petitioner’s counsel sought time to study the replies filed by two deputy inspector general of police and a report by the IGP Punjab, in compliance with the previous court directions.
