FAISALABAD:Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Headquarters Kashif Raza Awan on Sunday said that lids were provided to 636 open manholes in the city during last 9 weeks and no manhole was now without lid in 62 city councils of Faisalabad city.
Chairing a meeting here, he said these manholes were relating to Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL).
He informed the meeting that speed breakers were established near 138 government and 132 private educational institutes to facilitate the schoolchildren for crossing roads in easy way while 4308 streetlights were made functional in 68 city councils to facilitate the residents as well as travelers.
He further said that during survey, five bridges were found old and these were repaired and rehabilitated in addition to opening 754 choked drains and 1889 chocked sewer lines in the city.
He said that Faisalabad Waste Management Company lifted 76696 tons waste material from streets and roads during this period and dumped it in a safe manner.
He said that whitewash was also ensured at 39 public transport stands and 708 buildings of schools and government offices.
He said that cleanliness of 168 Basic Health Units (BHUs), 15 Rural Health Centers (RHCs) and 6 hospitals was completed in addition to removing wall chalking from 120 sites during this period.
He said that Secretary RTA took action against smoke emitting vehicles and imposed Rs.5.444 million fine in addition to impounding 1649 vehicles.
Similarly, a total fine of Rs.18.9 million was imposed on 3549 overloaded vehicles in addition to completing patch work on 82 small urban and rural roads.
He said that 44 poles were shifted and 16 transformers were covered during this period also.
Earlier, the Additional Deputy Commissioner reviewed performance of various departments and directed their heads to further improve their performance by ensuring quality service.
