Local authorities conduct crackdown against electricity theft, adulteration

ABBOTTABAD:Assistant Commissioner Haripur Lubna Akram Thursday chaired a meeting to address pressing concerns related to unpaid electricity bills and electricity theft.



Police officials including the Superintendent of Police City Circle, the Superintendent of Police for Circle TIP and the DSP Special Branch attended the meeting.



Following the meeting, a comprehensive inspection was conducted, with support from the XEN Irrigation Department and the Halal Food Authority. This inspection, in particular, focused on adulteration and chemical contamination in milk.



The Halal Food Authority also undertook a rigorous campaign by visiting various milk and yogurt shops across Haripur. Equipped with state-of-the-art mobile testing laboratories, officials thoroughly examined these shops to detect any signs of chemical contamination or adulteration in the milk supply.



Following the directives of the provincial government and under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Manshera, Assistant Commissioner Manshera Qurat-ul-Ain, initiated proactive measures to curb electricity theft in the Khaki area.



In collaboration with representatives from the PESCO, a series of targeted raids were also carried out by Assistant Commissioner Baffa Pakhal. These operations successfully apprehended persons involved in electricity theft.



Substantial recoveries, in the form of fines amounting to millions of rupees, were made during these operations while warnings were also issued as a reminder of the consequences of such actions.
