Multan: The Old Kotwali police arrested an accused of acid attack, here on Sunday.
According to police sources, the victim, Abdul Ghaffar, had lent a sum of money to Abu Bakar for the last few months. The victim visited Abu Bakar’s residence situated at Hazoori Bagh road on Saturday night to demand repayment. However, it enraged Abu Bakar, who reportedly got acid from his house and threw it on Ghaffar, causing severe injuries to him.
Upon receiving a complaint, the police registered FIR No. 994/24 under Section 336B and initiated an investigation. City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar took notice of the incident and ordered the suspect’s swift arrest. Later, the Old Kotwali police team arrested the accused. The accused has a prior criminal record with multiple drug-related cases. The condition of Abdul Ghaffar was stated to be stable, police sources added.
