Lahore: Managing Director of WASA (Water and Sanitation Agency) Lahore Ghaffran Ahmad on Tuesday ordered disciplinary action against officers and staff showing poor performance in revenue collection. Instructions were also issued to disconnect water supply and sewerage connections of all defaulters. In line with the vision of the Punjab government, the WASA has stepped up efforts to accelerate development projects and enhance revenue collection. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the managing director here on Tuesday.
During the meeting, a detailed review of the weekly progress under the Lahore Development Program (LDP), revenue collection, and the Complaint Management System was conducted. Directors attended the meeting in person, while Executive Engineers (XENs) participated via webinar.
Orders were issued to bring all service areas of the Lahore Development Program across all towns into the revenue net.
The MD WASA warned that no negligence in revenue collection would be tolerated and directed the use of modern technology to make the revenue collection process transparent and effective.
He directed all directors to ensure prompt redressal of public complaints, stressing that no delay in complaint resolution would be tolerated. He also instructed that desilting operations be carried out effectively according to the approved schedule.
All concerned officers briefed the MD on the ongoing development projects in their respective areas. Emphasizing the need for efficiency, MD WASA directed all directors to further accelerate the pace of development works and ensure their timely completion.
He reiterated that providing the best possible facilities to citizens remains WASA’s top priority. The MD also instructed that revenue billing be initiated in areas where development work under the Lahore Development Program has been completed.
Additionally, all directors were directed to maintain special monitoring of manhole covers in their respective areas and to ensure immediate resolution of any complaints related to missing or damaged manhole covers.
