Lahore:The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued an alert in 10 major cities of Pakistan, showing the fear of increasing dengue epidemic.
According to the alert issued by the department, the epidemic cases that started from September are expected to increase in October. The risks of this epidemic are high in 10 major cities of the country, which include Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan, Hyderabad and Larkana.
The Meteorological Department further said that there is a clear increase in the epidemic after the monsoon, when there is more than 27 mm of rain, the risk of the epidemic increases.
It said in its issued alert that two hours before the sunrise and before sunset, the risk of epidemic is high, while dengue is significantly reduced when the temperature is below 16 degrees.
On the other side, the public has been instructed by the Health department not to let water stand in urban houses and nearby areas, and to cover open water containers and tanks.
Fever, sore throat, headache, vomiting are symptoms of dengue, and citizens should not use half-sleeves during dengue season and use mosquito repellent at home to prevent larval breeding.
