Minister LG issues strict orders for smog prevention measures

Lahore: The sixth meeting of Suthra Punjab Authority was held at the Darbar Hall of Civil Secretariat, Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique in chair.



Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood, DG Suthra Punjab Authority Umer Javed, Technical Members Chaudhry Jafar Iqbal, Ali Tariq, Saira Iftikhar and Muzaffar Islam also attended the meeting while all Divisional Commissioners joined the meeting via video link.



On this occasion, matters of the authority, especially making anti-smog measures more effective, were discussed. On the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the installation of body cameras on the uniforms of Field Monitoring Officers (FMOs) was also reviewed.



Minister Local Government Zeeshan Rafique expressed his resolve to ensure full implementation of the decisions of the recent meeting chaired by the Chief Minister saying that we all have to ensure implementation of the instructions issued by the Environment Department at all levels at the beginning of the smog season.



He warned that strict action would be taken against those who blow dust while cleaning roads or burn



garbage.



He observed that FMOs have a fundamental role in monitoring field workers. “The installation of body cams will facilitate monitoring of movement in beats”, he noted.



During the meeting, the members of the authority praised the geomapping initiative at the union council level directing for further improvement.
