Lahore: Provincial Ministers for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat and Information Azma Zahid Bokhari on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Board of Governors of Government Graduate College Chuna Mandi and took several decisions to improve the institution’s performance and facilities.
The meeting approved Honhaar scholarships for all female students of the college who had applied for the scholarship programme. It also approved the launch of skills development courses to provide students with additional educational and professional opportunities.
The ministers directed the college administration to hire female sanitary workers and a female caretaker, besides introducing a digital payment system and conducting an audit of previous payments.
Azma Bokhari directed the administration to take immediate measures to improve facilities at the college and warned of strict action if enrolment was not improved. She said negligence in providing facilities to students would not be tolerated and complaints would be dealt with strictly.
Rana Sikandar Hayat and Azma Bokhari rejected the college management’s proposal to increase fees, stressing that it was the government’s responsibility to ensure that female students could continue their education within their financial means.
The information minister also directed the administration to strictly prevent unnecessary movement of unrelated persons around the girls’ college during morning and afternoon timings.
