Mirpur DC warns meat sellers against overcharging, poor hygiene

District

MIRPUR:Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Syed Imran Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday directed mutton, beef and chicken sellers to strictly follow government-fixed prices, maintain hygiene and ensure the supply of quality meat to consumers at prescribed rates.

He issued the directions during a meeting with a delegation of meat sellers, stressing that official price lists must be prominently displayed at all shops and meat sold at the notified rates. He said strict compliance with government directives was essential to control prices and provide quality meat to consumers at affordable rates.

During the meeting, the deputy commissioner directed traders to maintain cleanliness inside their shops and surrounding areas and observe food safety standards during the handling, storage and sale of meat. He warned that legal action would be taken against those found overcharging customers, failing to display official price lists or violating sanitation requirements.

On this occasion, Naqvi said all available resources would be utilised to provide maximum relief and facilities to citizens. He further added that market inspections and monitoring would continue to ensure compliance with official prices, maintain hygiene and protect consumers’ interests.
