Rawalpindi: As part of a special public facilitation initiative, mobile licensing vans of the City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi are providing driving licence services at citizens’ doorsteps, particularly benefiting residents of far-flung areas.
The initiative was taken on the directives of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir and under the supervision of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam, a weekly schedule for mobile licensing and police station vans has been issued to ensure easy access to licensing facilities.
Chief Traffic Officer CTO Farhan Aslam said the initiative aimed to provide licensing facilities at citizens’ doorsteps, adding that motorcyclists were also being issued learner permits and driving licences on the spot.
He urged citizens to fully take benefit from the facility and obtain their driving licences from the nearest mobile van, licensing centre or service point.
Inspector Imtiaz Khan, in-charge of the Driving Licence Branch, said the mobile vans would offer services at Kanyal Bajrana Bazaar, Gujar Khan, and Choa Khalsa Bazaar, Kallar Syedan, on Tuesday, Gate No 03, Holy Family Road, and Galyana Bazaar, Gujar Khan, on Wednesday; Shah Bagh Stop on Main Kallar Syedan Road and Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazaar, on Thursday, Jhawara Pickett on Dhamiyal Road and Masrial Chowk, Rawalpindi, on Friday, and Car Chowk, Scheme III, and Chak Beli Khan Road on Saturday.
He added that special rickshaw driving tests would be conducted on Sunday at the Old Varan Depot, Saddar.
The mobile licensing service will remain available from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the designated points to facilitate the public.
