PESHAWAR:The Department of Cardiology at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Peshawar, successfully organized an advanced workshop on Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL), held ahead of the LRH conference.
IVL is an advanced medical technology that helps break up hardened calcium deposits in the heart and other arteries, facilitating treatment.
This technology is also being introduced in Pakistan.
The workshop began with an online lecture by an international expert from Singapore, and several cardiology fellows and doctors. This was followed by an interactive discussion involving specialists, including Dr. Jabbar Ali, Dr. Saeed Zaman, and Dr. Asif Iqbal.
Participants were also given a practical demonstration of IVL technology, during which two complex cases involving severely calcified coronary arteries were successfully treated.
This development marks an important milestone for the Department of Cardiology at Lady Reading Hospital.
It represents a positive step toward improving the quality of patient care through advanced medical facilities, international expertise, and hands-on training.
