PESHAWAR:Initial work has begun on establishment of a modern forest tube nursery on 16 kanals of land in the Koh-e-Bara area of Khyber district.
According to the Forest Department on Monday, the proposed nursery will produce saplings of various indigenous tree species, including deodar, pine, walnut, oak, olive, willow and bakain.
The project aims at promoting tree cultivation, protect forests and ensure a sustainable supply of quality plants for plantation activities in the region.
Officials said the establishment of the modern nursery would help conserve biodiversity, improve the environment and strengthen afforestation efforts across Khyber district.
The permanent nursery will also reduce dependence on temporary nurseries and ensure better cultivation, care and growth of different tree species.
