More resources being diverted for rehabilitation of damaged infrastructures in flood-hit areas: Faisal Kundi

DERA ISMAIL KHAN:Special Assistant to Prime Minister and former deputy speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi has said the present coalition government would complete its tenure and next general elections would be held at stipulated time.

The Prime Minister’s special assistant said the government was taking concrete measures for resolving problems of masses and elections could not be held at whims and wishes of any particular figure or political party.

Neither can the country afford to spend billions of rupees on holding election at a time when people were reeling from unexpectedly huge losses and damages due to current devastating flood.

He said that the government was committed to extending relief to flood affected people and utilizing all available resources to rehabilitate damaged infrastructures and resettle flood stricken people in their areas.

The Prime Minister’s aide was of the view that after rescuing and provision of relief items to dwellers of flood-hit areas, the major task for the government was ahead to successfully complete rehabilitation phase which takes years.

In this regard, Faisal Karim Kundi said the government under the prudent leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif successfully mobilized the world’s countries to mitigate the sufferings of the flood affected people by providing them compensation and rebuilding the damaged infrastructures.

Resultantly, he said foreign aid had started coming in but, he hastened to add that the devastation of the natural calamity was on such a large scale that country would require more funds to compensate for the losses the people suffered and reconstruct the damaged roads, bridges and other infrastructures at flood-ravaged areas.

He said that leaders of Pakistan Democratic Movement(PDM) were sincerely struggling to steer the country out of inherited financial crisis and extend relief to flood affected people by resettling them in their respective areas amid all basic facilities of life in dignified manner.
