Multan Police report 46pc drop in crime

Multan: Multan Police recorded a 46 per cent decline in overall reported crime during the year from September 30, 2025 to September 30, 2026, with the number of cases falling from 50,960 to 27,591, according to the annual crime performance report.



The report, issued under the supervision of City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar, showed a 48 per cent reduction in crimes against property, 47 per cent in crimes against persons, 61 per cent in robbery, 44 per cent in overall theft and 53 per cent in motorcycle theft compared with the previous year.



A significant decline was also recorded in the daily incidence of major crimes. Crimes against property dropped from 63 to 31 cases per day, robbery from five to three, overall theft from 43 to 19, and motorcycle theft from seven to two cases per day.



The report further showed a 12 per cent annual decline in murder cases and a 20 per cent reduction in attempted murder cases. No incident of murder or attempted murder was reported in the city on September 29.



The report attributed the improvement to an effective policing strategy, including enhanced patrolling, snap checking, police pickets and targeted action against criminal elements, coupled with continuous monitoring of field officers.



CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar said special tasks had been assigned to police officers to prevent crime and protect the lives and property of citizens, while the performance of field officers was being continuously monitored.
