Multan won Women’s Divisional League

MULTAN:Multan conquered Women Divisional League being played under the auspices of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Southern Punjab Cricket Association.

In the final match played at Multan International Cricket Ground, Multan batted first and scored 142 runs in allotted 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Bahawalpur scored 92 runs. Team opener Alina Masood was declared player of the match for scoring 59 runs. She is the daughter of former Test cricketer Masood Anwar.

Saba Khurshid, the captain of runner-up team Bahawalpur, said that her team lost due to dropped catches.

Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan teams also participated in the championship.

In the closing ceremony, the chief selector of the national women’s team, Asmavia Iqbal, welcomed the organization of the Women’s League and said that new talent has been emerged through the league.

Chief Executive Southern Punjab Cricket Association Dr Abdul Saboor said that a team will be selected from the best players which will play a match against Sindh women’s team on March 4 at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore in connection with Women’s Day.

Test cricketers Shabbir Ahmed, Masood Anwar, MPA Sabin Gul, Bahauddin Zakariya University Vice Chancellor Dr. Mansoor Karim Kundi, Officials of MNSUA and BZU and Women University also participated in the prize distribution ceremony. Apart from special cricketers, students of three varsities also witnessed the final match.
