MULTAN: Multan Waste Management Company (MWMC) is working on a plan to generate revenues to achieve self-sufficiency and improve cleanliness standards in the urban area.
According to official sources, the Board of Directors of MWMC have been directed to evolve a special plan for revenue generation. Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Farooq Dogar in a statement observed that the city’s population was on increase with rapid pace.
It is very much essential for MWMC to increase revenue generation and limit dependence on government’s funds. The officials have been tasked to collect data of industrial, commercial and domestic units so that a fee structure should be imposed on them. The officials will also study WASA’s model for revenue collection.
The services of the company have been offered to the institutions having their own cleanliness system like Market Committee, General Bus Stand, Timber Market and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will also be signed for collection of trash in tonnes. Earlier, the agreement with Police Training Centre and Nishtar Medical University was being implemented successfully.
Farooq also hinted that posh housing societies, operating their internal mechanisms for cleanliness, were also being approached. The company will sigh MoU with these colonies also and charged fee against its services. All the stakeholders would be taken into confidence before implementing the revenue generation plan.
