Bahawalpur: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued warning of punishment if any candidate for NA-168 bye-election in Bahawalpur was found running campaign after midnight between 25th and 26th September 2026.
According to an official press release issued here, ‘The election campaign for Bye-Election in NA-168, Bahawalpur-V, shall come to an end with effect from the midnight falling between the 25th and 26th September 2026’. The political parties and candidates have been asked to follow the provisions of law and exercise self-restrain so that the poll is held in an orderly and peaceful manner on the 27th September 2026.
It further said that the Election Commission of Pakistan draws the attention of contesting candidates for Bye-Election in NA-168 Bahawalpur-V to the provision of Section 182 of the Elections Act 2017 which provides that no person shall convene, hold or attend any public meeting and no person shall promote or join in any procession within the area of the constituency during a period of forty-eight hours ending the midnight following the conclusion of the Poll.
The ECP warned that any person who contravenes these provisions of law shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to one hundred thousand rupees or both.
