ISLAMABAD:National College of Arts (NCA) Islamabad Campus held an art exhibition on Tuesday for students who had completed a six-month diploma program under the Community Outreach Program.
The event showcased over 100 paintings by participants who came from various walks of life, including diploma students and even a special child.
The initiative of the Community Outreach Program at NCA Islamabad Campus was launched to provide individuals from different backgrounds, particularly those who are deprived of speech and hearing abilities, with an opportunity to create art.
After completing the six-month diploma program, participants, including those who are differently-abled, presented their final projects in the form of these remarkable paintings.
The Vice-Chancellor of NCA Islamabad Campus, Professor Dr. Murtaza Jafri, directed this initiative, with Hadiqa Amer overseeing the project.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hadiqa Amer, head of NCA Islamabad Campus, shared her thoughts on the program’s objectives.
She explained that many participants who were already leading busy lives and faced age constraints found it challenging to continue their artistic pursuits.
This initiative aimed to provide them with the opportunity to engage in art without age restrictions, as NCA’s diploma and degree programs have no age restrictions.
Community Outreach Program: NCA Islamabad Campus Hadiqa Amer, along with her faculty members, including Muhammad Shiraz Idris, Associate Professor Aqeel Solangi, and Muhammad Zeeshan Yunus, attended the exhibition.
She expressed that the primary goal of the Community Outreach Program was to engage individuals in artistic endeavours despite their age or other constraints.
This opportunity allowed participants to continue their artistic work, something they had to put on hold due to the constraints of normal life.
The art displayed in the exhibition, which resulted from diploma and degree programs at NCA Islamabad Campus, was a testament to the creative spirit of these individuals, who proved that art has no age limits or boundaries.
Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Murtaza Jafri, commented on the significance of such initiatives, emphasizing that the diploma and degree programs at NCA do not impose age limits, enabling individuals to continue their artistic journeys at any stage of life.
