ISLAMABAD:National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) under its drive “Power with Safety” held a webinar titled “Isolation and Permit to Work” in collaboration with K-Electric here Friday to create awareness amongst the participants about correct application of “Isolation and Permit to Work” system to control hazards, maintenance of any electrical apparatuses.
The unexpected energizing, start up or release of any type of energy can cause considerable damage not only to the equipment and tools but also precious human lives, said a press release.
The webinar was attended by hundreds of HSE professionals and field staff from the power sector of Pakistan besides a number of NEPRA officials. The webinar was chaired by Naweed Illahi Shaikh, Director General Admin, HR/CAD.
In his opening remarks, he highlighted the importance of the webinar in accordance with Chairman NEPRA, Tauseef H. Farooqi’s vision of attaining zero-incidents in the power sector of Pakistan.
He also stressed upon adopting international safety standards so that fatalities and injuries to those on duty and the public is mitigated.
The webinar was also addressed by Chief Executive Officer K-Electric, Moonis Alvi who thanked and appreciated Chairman NEPRA’s keen interest in advocating, shaping, implementing and monitoring best safety practices across the power sector.
He ensured that KE will keep on implementing such best practices initiated under the NEPRA drive “Power with Safety” effectively
