ISLAMABAD:National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) organized a webinar titled “Geothermal Energy – Technological Overview and Potential” to create awareness amongst the participants about the geothermal energy, technological advances in this field and its potential for Pakistan.
The webinar was presided by Chairman NEPRA Tauseef H. Farooqi here Friday at the headquarters, was also attended by NEPRA professionals and a large number of power sector stakeholders, members of the academia and others, said a press release.
The Chairman NEPRA in his opening address, said that the world was moving fastly towards exploring such avenues to attain zero carbon emission goals along with reliable and affordable power generation while in Pakistan, it was a new technology.
The Chairman NEPRA said Pakistan is a blessed country having immense potential in this area which needs to be tapped.
International Research Scientist and Geothermal Laboratory Program Manager at NREL, Ms. Amanda Kolker made a detailed presentation highlighting the geothermal energy, technological advancements in the field, potential in Pakistan and recommendations for harnessing this potential.
