Islamabad: The National Institutes of Health (NIH), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Gilgit-Baltistan Health Department, organized a workshop to strengthen risk communication and community engagement during public health emergencies.
Held under the Pandemic Fund initiative, the workshop brought together spokespersons and media-related participants, including representatives from human, animal and environmental health sectors under the One Health approach.
The sessions focused on coordinated risk communication, effective media engagement, countering misinformation and improving public communication during health emergencies.
Participants discussed the importance of timely, accurate and consistent information sharing to build public trust, promote community engagement and support effective responses to public health threats.
The workshop aimed to strengthen institutional coordination and communication capacities in Gilgit-Baltistan to improve preparedness for and response to public health emergencies.
