No room for corrupt elements in force, says RPO

District

MULTAN:Regional Police Officer (RPO) Usman Akram Gondal has reiterated that there is no room for corrupt elements, misuse of authority or departmental misconduct in the police force, stressing that accountability is being strengthened to ensure discipline, transparency and merit.

He expressed these views while conducting an orderly room at his office, where he heard appeals filed by police officers and personnel against departmental punishments and reviewed their cases in the light of available records and police rules.

During the proceedings, the RPO examined a range of disciplinary cases, including appeals against dismissal, demotion and forfeiture of service. After hearing the appellants and reviewing the relevant records, he decided the cases on merit, issuing orders in accordance with the prescribed police rules.

The RPO also accepted certain appeals, ordered reinstatement of some dismissed personnel, and directed regular departmental inquiries in selected cases to ensure that all aspects were examined fairly. Meanwhile, several appeals were dismissed after scrutiny of the available evidence and departmental proceedings.

Usman Akram Gondal said that the accountability mechanism within the police department was being made more effective, transparent and impartial, adding that no leniency would be shown towards officials involved in corruption, misuse of powers or other departmental irregularities.

He emphasized that maintaining discipline, upholding merit and ensuring the supremacy of law were among the top priorities, adding that every departmental matter would be decided fairly and strictly in accordance with the rules.
