Notorious robber held after encounter with police

Multan: Multan police arrested a dangerous and previously convicted robber after a late-night encounter near Model City Canal in the jurisdiction of Mamtazabad Police Station. According to police sources, a police patrol team was present at the Model City Canal for routine crime checking and picketing when two suspicious motorcyclists approached from the front. When signaled to stop, the suspects attempted to flee. Upon spotting the police, both suspects dismounted from the motorcycle and opened indiscriminate fire from different directions. The police team immediately took cover behind their vehicle and retaliated. After the exchange of fire ended, one suspect was found lying injured on the ground, having sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg from firing by his own unidentified accomplice. Police have also recovered a 30-bore pistol from his possession. The injured suspect was identified as Muhammad Rizwan alias Rizwani, son of Muhammad Akram, a resident of Basti Shorkot, Mauza Ram Kali, Multan. His acc
omplice managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness while continuing to fire. A record check revealed that the injured suspect was a hardened criminal with previous involvement in multiple cases of theft and robbery. The injured accused was shifted to Nishtar Hospital by Rescue 1122 for medical treatment, police sources added.
