ISLAMABAD:The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Wednesday jointly organized a seminar to create awareness against the evils of corruption.
The seminar titled “Our Faith: Corruption Free Pakistan” discussed the role of public sector organizations in eradicating the scourge of corruption.
Addressing the seminar, OGRA Chairman Masroor Khan said corruption was one of the root causes of poverty, conflict and state fragility. “It undermines the states’ ability to effectively deliver services and maintain the rule of law. Besides, it affects the business climate and hampers sustainable economic and social development.”
He said the definition of corruption required to be revisited in its true sense as merely using delaying tactic in official task also came under the purview of corruption.
NAB Director General Tariq Hamid Butt informed the participants that the reserves of Pakistan were depleting rapidly, and stressed on controlling the unaccounted losses to economy.
He emphasized on bringing transparency in the processes to create better service delivery, which, he said, would ultimately make the system work efficiently.
The audiences posed multiple questions to the NAB guests regarding investigation processes and harassment which were responded appropriately.
