Lahore: Deputy Commissioner(DC) Lahore,Muhammad Ali Ejaz on Sunday chaired a meeting to review the progress of the ongoing anti-polio campaign in the city, directing teams to ensure vaccination of every child under five years of age.
The meeting was attended by ADC Abdullah Khan,CEO Health,assistant commissioners and international observers.
The CEO Health gave a detailed briefing on the sixth-day coverage of the campaign.
The meeting was informed that out of the target of 2,285,477 children,2,252,978 had been administered polio drops while 1,577,316 households had been covered during the campaign.
The meeting was further informed that 69,142 children out of 166,284 who were unavailable during the first catch-up day had been vaccinated.
The DC directed the formation of special teams to reach the remaining 97,142 children.
He directed the assistant commissioners to be informed about issues faced by polio teams so that these could be resolved promptly.
He said the assistant commissioners were remaining p
resent in the field to address the problems of polio teams.
The DC directed that,besides achieving the assigned target, vaccination of every child under five years of age should be ensured.
He particularly stressed administering polio drops to newborn children and children from families that had been persuaded to cooperate with the campaign.
