MUZAFFARGARH: The District Food Controller seized about 36 tonnes of flour being transported without official documentation and registered a case against the vehicle involved in the activity.
According to the official source of District Food Controller office, three checkpoints have been established in the two districts to prevent illegal transportation of wheat and flour.
Officials said around 8,000 flour bags weighing 10 kilograms each were supplied to consumers daily in Muzaffargarh and Kot Addu to ensure the availability of flour at affordable rates.
During checking at Chowk Sarwar Shaheed Toll Plaza, a vehicle bearing registration number TLJ-275 was intercepted. A search revealed 36 tonnes of flour in different packaging, but the driver failed to produce the required official documents.
The flour was taken into custody and subsequently sold through around 36 shops in Muzaffargarh and Kot Addu at the government-notified rate of Rs1,100 per 10-kilogram bag.
An FIR was also registered against the vehicle, while the proceeds from the sale of the seized flour were deposited in the government treasury as entrusted funds.
