RAWALPINDI:Punjab Arts Council on Monday organized the first Punjab Painting Competition at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Complex, Chakwal.
DC Chakwal Qurat Ul Ain Malik was the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony while Additional Deputy Commissioner (R) Bilal Bin Abdul Hafeez and Deputy Director Arts Council Muhammad Shakoor were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the participants of the competitions Qurat said that Pakistan has a rich history of fine arts, painting and sculpture.
Traditionally, Pakistani art was based on Islam and geography while music, painting, sculpture, poetry and dance were branches of fine arts, she said and added that the talent of the youth of Chakwal would be in the limelight to the world through the painting competition.
The DC said temporarily the arts council would function in the district complex while allotment of land for the permanent Arts Council was in the final stages.
In the coming years, Chakwal will create its own unique place in art and culture, s
he added.
Deputy Director PAC Muhammad Shakoor said that the painters have depicted natural scenes with beautiful colours in the paintings.
Each painting was very unique in itself with hundreds of emotions embedded in it, he said and added that there were many ways to express ideas in the field of art.
Shakoor said that paintings have a special place in the era of human civilization and this powerful medium has also preserved thousands of years of human and natural history.
Dozens of painters from across the district participated in the contests.
Abdul Hadi won the first prize, Mehwish Tariq second and Jawaria Noor won the third prize in the competition.
At the end of the ceremony, the chief guest also distributed cheques and certificates of appreciation to the position holders.
