ABBOTTABAD:Teaching Hospitals of KPK Sunday are facing a fourth consecutive week of protests as the Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) continues to advocate for the rights and demands of doctors.
According to the information, the protests are set to take place on the coming Monday at two prominent healthcare facilities including Qazi Hussain Ahmed Medical Complex Nowshera and Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad.
Simultaneously, peaceful demonstrations will also be carried out in various other hospitals across the province until the doctors’ demands are addressed.
The Provincial Doctors Association has put forth a series of demands including an immediate increase in the salaries of Trainee Medical Officers and House Officers, emphasizing the need for prompt notification in this regard.
The association is calling for the full implementation of the Security Act of 2020 in all hospitals throughout the province.
This is to ensure the safety and protection of medical staff who have often faced security concerns in the line of duty.
The doctors are requesting faculty status for medical professionals working in Medical Teaching Institutes (MTIs). They also stress the importance of aligning promotions with the regulations set by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
Another demand is the restoration of seats for Senior Registrars in all Medical Teaching Institutes (MTIs). The Provincial Doctors Association has directed their demands to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Health Advisor, and the Chief Secretary.
They are calling for practical steps to be taken to address these concerns promptly.
The protest is expected to continue in hospitals across the province until their demands are not only acknowledged but also effectively implemented. Dr. Amir Taj Khan, President of the Provincial Doctors Association, has reiterated their unwavering commitment to pursuing these demands until they are met, underscoring the significance of this matter to the medical community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
