PEC team visits KIU Gilgit, for accreditation process of the Mining Engineering Dept

GIlGIT: The team from Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) visited Karakoram International University (KIU) Gilgit as part of the accreditation process for the Mining Engineering department.

The inspection team visited as per the invitation extended by the university Mining Engineering department.

The team included Dr. Mirza Jahanzeb, Professor Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, Dr. Muhammad Abubakr Zubair, and Dr. Muhammad Junaid Khan.

The purpose of the team visit was to assess the quality of the ongoing degree programs in the Mining Engineering department.

The team commenced their visit with a meeting with Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Attaullah Shah of Karakoram International University.

During the meeting, Vice Chancellor KIU discussed the significance of the Mining Engineering department, particularly in relation to the geographical realities of Gilgit-Baltistan. Following this, the team had a detailed meeting with the head of the Mining Engineering department and their team, where Dr. Khan Gul Jadoon briefed the PE
C team on various matters, including the Mining Engineering programs and other relevant issues in the region.

Later, the team conducted a tour of the Mining Engineering department, examined the laboratories, and gathered necessary information. It should be noted that PEC has previously accredited the Mining Engineering session of 2018, and currently, the PEC team is working on accrediting sessions of 2019 and 2020.
