District

ABBOTTABAD:Chairman Board of Governors Ayub Medical Institution Professor Dr Abid Jameel on Monday inaugurated new pediatric wards, an Outpatient Department (OPD) and a vaccination center at Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) to improve healthcare facilities for children in Hazara Division.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Professor Dr Abid Jameel said expanding pediatric healthcare facilities and providing a better treatment environment for children had been among his top priorities since assuming charge as chairman. He said a shortage of beds for children and the operation of the OPD within the pediatric emergency department had created difficulties for patients and their attendants.

He said the new wards and OPD had now been completed and made fully operational, fulfilling the commitment to provide additional beds and a spacious outpatient facility for children.

The new facilities would benefit patients arriving at the hospital from across Hazara Division and adjoining remote areas.

The chairman appreciated the efforts of Hospital Director Dr Sajjad Ahmad Afridi and his team in completing the project, stressing that the provision of quality healthcare and a patient-friendly environment remained a key responsibility of the hospital administration.

Hospital Director Dr Sajjad Ahmad Afridi also briefed the chairman on plans to construct a waiting area and washrooms outside the paediatric OPD to facilitate patients and their attendants. He also highlighted ongoing development projects and measures being taken to improve healthcare services at the hospital.

Executives of Ayub Teaching Hospital and heads of various departments attended the inauguration ceremony.
