Performance review meeting on immunization programme held

MULTAN:Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, Punjab, in collaboration with the World Bank, hold a meeting to review the performance of South Punjab’s districts on the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).

Secretary South Punjab Muhammad Iqbal participated as the special guest.

The problems faced during immunization coverage in the districts, procedures, and other issues were discussed in the meeting.

While giving a briefing, the officials said the immunization facility would be ensured at all healthcare centers by the end of 2023.

Likewise, computerized enrollment of children in immunization programme is to be fully implemented by end of next year.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare South Punjab Muhammad Iqbal said timely immunization protects children from deadly diseases.

He further said the completion of the immunization course on time guarantees the health and well-being of the next generation.

He said the computerized entry of data in the EPI would discourage fake data. He directed officials to ensure the presence of vaccinators in the field at any cost.

He asked all administrative officers of the health department to monitor the immunization programme regularly and efficiently and keep outreach teams fully activated.

The secretary ordered to take the community on board for 100 percent coverage of immunization campaign.

Director EPI Dr Ehtisham-ul-Haq said learning from your mistakes was very important to evaluate performance.

He said that a ranking system has been devised to evaluate the performance of the districts and achieving 100 percent coverage target is the prime objective.
