Peshawar:The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has dismissed a petition seeking formation of a larger bench to address issue of road closures during PTI long-march.
In a written order issued on Saturday, PHC noted that petition was currently in its preliminary stage and directed counsel to present arguments on merits of case. The petition had been jointly filed by PTI leaders Shehryar Afridi, Shandana Gulzar, and Asif Khan.
During the hearing, the petitioners’ counsel adopted an aggressive demeanor, speaking to the court in an unnecessarily harsh and unpleasant tone.
Despite the conduct, the court maintained its composure and treated the lawyer with courtesy out of respect for his status as a senior advocate.
In its order, PHC stated that it refrained from initiating disciplinary action against the lawyer mindful of his seniority, but cautioned him to exercise restraint, caution, and proper professional etiquette in future proceedings rather than attempting to bypass arguments on the merits.
