PHC suspends NAB notice to woman named in Kohistan financial scandal

District

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday suspended, until the next hearing, a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) notice summoning a woman named in the Kohistan financial scandal and sought a response from the anti-graft watchdog.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Babar Sattar heard the petition filed by the woman against the NAB notice.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel told the court that NAB had issued a notice directing his client to appear before it in connection with an inquiry.

The counsel said NAB’s position was that money had been transferred into the petitioner’s bank account. He, however, submitted that the amount had been transferred to her account from her husband’s account.

He further informed the court that NAB was already conducting an inquiry against the petitioner’s husband, who was on interim bail.

After hearing the arguments, the bench suspended the NAB appearance notice issued to the petitioner until the next hearing and sought the bureau’s response on the matter.

The court directed NAB to submit a report at the next hearing and adjourned the case.
