LAHORE:The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has taken action against an impostor who was running a clinic.
According to the PHC spokesperson on Friday, Dr. Shahrezad Faruk Czar, known as Dr. Zaar, falsely claimed to be an endocrinologist with fake foreign qualifications while being registered only as a medical graduate (MBBS) with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
Dr. Zaar offered specialized healthcare services in diabetes, sexual disorders, and weight loss but was deceiving patients with fabricated post-graduate degrees. In contrast, his official registration with the PMDC indicates that he holds an MBBS degree from Karachi University.
The PHC conducted an operation and sealed Dr. Zaar’s clinic, located in a private hospital in Gulberg. The hospital administration and Dr. Zaar have been summoned to appear before a PHC hearing committee.
This is not the first instance of Dr. Zaar’s involvement in illegal practices. In mid-2022, he was practicing as an endocrinologist and offering similar services at another private healthcare facility. Subsequently, he was instructed to cease his practice across Punjab. Furthermore, he was terminated from the healthcare establishment, and a fine of Rs100,000 was imposed on the institution for failing to verify the authenticity of his qualifications. Dr. Zaar’s case was referred to the Pakistan Medical Commission (formerly PMDC) for further action.
