FAISALABAD: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has nabbed 429 proclaimed offenders (POs) and 311 court absconders in addition to issuing challan tickets to 356,762 drivers on violations of traffic rules and regulations in September.
Giving the details here on Tuesday, the PHP spokesman said that patrolling police checked 1,879,291 people and 1,011,769 vehicles on highways and main roads of the province through the e-police post app last month.
During the period, PHP arrested 311 court absconders and 429 proclaimed offenders (POs) including 33 POs of category-A and 386 POs of category-B besides nabbing 100 illicit weapons holders along with 73 pistols, 20 rifles and 7 Kalashnikovs.
The police also challaned 356,762 drivers on charges of violating the traffic rules and regulations in addition to seizing 280 stolen vehicles including 10 cars, 264 motorcycles and 6 other vehicles.
The patrolling police also arrested drug pushers along with 1947 litre liquor, 17.472 kg cannabis, 700 gram opium and 524 gram heroin in addition to removing 523 encroachments from different sites on highways and main roads.
The PHP also reunited 77 missing children with their parents and family members besides providing first aid to 197 travellers injured in road accidents besides helping 5008 commuters in the time of need, he added.
