Burewala: Director General Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticides Punjab Dr Aamir Rasool on Saturday visited cotton-growing areas and ginning factories across Multan Division to assess the condition, quality and pest situation of the crop.
He was accompanied by Additional Director General Pest Warning (South Punjab) Ilyas Raza Kalachi and Divisional Director Pest Warning Multan, Dr Aamir Rasool inspected cotton fields in Multan, Vehari, Lodhran and Khanewal. He reviewed crop growth, overall condition, pest attacks and diseases and interacted with farmers, advising them on crop nutrition and effective pest management.
During the inspection, pink bollworm was detected in cotton fields. The DG directed pest warning surveillance teams to treat its economic threshold as zero and immediately guide farmers wherever an infestation was found. He also stressed the timely application of recommended selective pesticides to protect the crop.
On this occasion, Dr Aamir Rasool also inspected several ginning factories, where he found cotton quality satisfactory, with prices ranging from Rs8, 800 to Rs9, 400 per maund. He also visited Kissan Sahulat Centres in Multan and Khanewal and directed officials to improve branding, prominently display pesticide price lists and ensure timely availability of quality agricultural inputs and other facilities for farmers.
