SIALKOT: Former President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Malik Muhammed Ashraf inaugurated the e-service centre under the auspices of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) here on Sunday.
Sialkot is the first non-divisional headquarters of the province where an e-service centre has been set up.
More than 130 services of 13 different departments will be available in the centre.
Chairman PITB Syed Bilal Haider, Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Hafiz Hamid Raza and local leaders participated in the ceremony.
Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Syed Bilal Haider, on the occasion, said that the 12 counters of different departments including Revenue, Excise and Taxation, Pakistan Post, Local Government, Traffic Police, NADRA, Domicile, Civil Defence and Social Protection Authority had been set up in the e-service centre.
Chairman PITB said that in the next 45 days, 4 more counters would be established and the number of services would be increased to 150 that would be equal to Lahore.
He said that according to the regulations, 30 minutes time had been fixed for the provision of services from the issuance of token to execution of service for a person entering the center.
There would be no cash payment in the centre. Payments of government dues would be deposited in the bank or through cards, he added.
Chairman PITB said, there was also an option to start double shift at the e-service centre, if required.
He said that the Punjab Information Technology Board was going to start the an online App, Mera Doctor scheme.
Chairman PITB said that the scheme would be started from Sialkot, under which citizens would be able to describe their problems to the doctor through this App and they would be prescribed medicines.
Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Khurram Niazi said that the district administration team worked hard for the establishment of e-service centre.
He said that PITB provided all the necessary resources and the efforts would be made to run this centre according to the expectations of the Punjab government and the citizens of Sialkot.
Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Hafiz Hamid Raza congratulated the citizens on the establishment of e-service centre and said that Punjab government was taking steps to provide facilities to the citizens of Sialkot equivalent to Divisional Headquarters.
Later, the guests inspected various counters where deployed staff briefied them about the working.
