Mirpur: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Iftikhar Gilani on Monday said provision of relief to the people, balanced development and effective delivery of public services across the state were among the government’s top priorities.
Talking to a delegation of journalists in Bhimber, he said the government was pursuing a comprehensive strategy for equitable development in all areas of AJK while taking practical measures to resolve public grievances and improve institutional performance. Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, ministers Col. (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor, Saqib Majeed and Sardar Umair Naeem, among others, were also present.
The journalists discussed issues confronting the media community, their welfare and other matters with the prime minister. Gilani said a clear roadmap had been prepared to strengthen institutions, ensure transparency and address public issues. He noted that four prime ministers had changed during the past five years, affecting continuity and limiting sustained attention to matters of public importance.
Prime Minister Gilani said the present government was focusing on public service, institutional improvement and effective implementation of development programmes. He assured the journalists that the government would take steps to address their genuine concerns and promote their welfare, acknowledging the media’s role in highlighting public issues and conveying the voice of the people to the government.
