Sialkot: Muradpur police registered a case and arrested a woman on the orders of DPO Sialkot Captain (Retd.) Dost Muhammad, a police spokesman said here on Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as Madiha, allegedly recorded a video alongside a police van belonging to Muradpur Police Station and uploaded it on social media, purportedly to give the impression that she was a police officer and to unlawfully benefit from the police identity.
The police also suspended Constable Tanzeel, the driver of the vehicle, for alleged negligence in connection with the incident. Orders have been issued for serving him with a charge sheet and initiating departmental proceedings.
DPO Sialkot Captain (Retd.) Dost Muhammad said misuse of police identity to mislead citizens and bring disrepute to the institution would not be tolerated.
He directed that action be taken without discrimination against violations of the law and instances of departmental negligence, the spokesman added.
