Sargodha: Union of Journalists (Dastoor) President Muhammad Zulfiqar Hashmi has strongly condemned mistreatment of journalists at the hands of the policemen.
In a press statement, he said misbehaviour with journalists would not be acceptable as journalists were an integral part of society and responsible for highlighting the public problems. He said when Rai Hassan Mahmood, a photographer of state news agency (APP) and secretary of the Sargodha Union of Journalists, went to the police lines to get a medical certificate for his driving licence, they were humiliated by ASI Zulfiqar and other constables at the gate. Rai Hassan Mahmood said he called DPO Khurram Shahzad, but he paid no heed.
The journalist community of Sargodha have demanded RPO Sargodha Shariq Kamal Siddiqui and DPO Dr Asad Ijaz Malhi to take immediate notice of the humiliating behaviour of the police officials with journalists.
