MUZAFFARABAD:Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police and Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) AJK chapter agreed to enhance coordinated efforts to meet emergency situations in the region under which PRCS will train police officials in first aid and other skills to handle the situations during the disasters.
In this regard, Inspector General Police (IGP) Dr Ameer Ahmed Shaikh on Friday paid a visit to the PRCS office and met Secretary PRCS Ms Gulzar Fatima and other officials. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Yaseen Qureshi, principal Police Training School Raja Abdul Qudoos, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters Raja Faisal Shafique and staff officer to IGP Agha Mujtaba were accompanying the IGP.
During the meeting, Manager PRCS Naveed Awan gave a detailed presentation about ongoing programs and projects, specifically the First Aid Pre-Hospital & Emergency Care Program and upcoming projects of PRCS AJK.
Secretary PRCS while discussing the major achievements of the program expressed gratitude for the visit and discussed the importance of coordinated efforts emphasizing the need for effective communication and collaboration during emergencies to ensure the safety and well-being of the people.
“We have trained over three thousand police recruits in First Aid training in AJK and we are hopeful that this training further imparts to save precious lives during emergencies and disasters”, Ms Fatima said.
IGP lauded the dedication and commitment of PRCS in humanitarian interventions during emergencies, conflicts and disasters. Moreover, the IGP also acknowledged the vital role of PRCS plays in community engagement and humanitarian assistance and assured PRCS of the full support of his department.
In addition, Mr. Ahmed expressed interest in exploring ways to enhance the skills of police personnel in handling emergencies. Both PRCS & Police Department discussed the importance and need for First Aid Training for Public Transport drivers.
The IGP while emphasizing the importance and need for First Aid Training for Public Drivers has said that First Aid Training will be made compulsory for public drivers to obtain driving licenses in the first phase.
“The Police Department and PRCS are jointly working on the concept of First Aid Training for Public Drivers. I am grateful for organizing First Aid Training for newly recruited police personnel at Police Training School”, he added.
Both PRCS AJK & Police Department concluded the visit with a commitment to further strengthen their partnership and continue working together towards a safer and more resilient Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
IGP, on the occasion, registered himself as a volunteer of PRCS AJK by filling out the registration form. Secretary PRCS AJK Ms. Gulzar Fatima presented PRCS souvenirs to IGP.
After the meeting, Secretary PRCS AJK & IGP AJK visited Police Training School Muzaffarabad where the First Aid certificate distribution ceremony was held. It is worth mentioning here that the PRCS AJK State Branch had trained over 574 police recruits including 67 females. The IGP & Secretary Gulzar Fatima distributed certificates among police personnel.
