HYDERABAD:District Health Officer (DHO) Hyderabad Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain has directed polio teams to ensure complete vaccination coverage during the ongoing National Sub-National Immunisation Days (SNID) campaign, stressing that no child under five years of age should be left without polio drops.
He issued the directives while chairing a morning briefing on the third day of the November 2026 campaign in Union Councils 31, 32, 33 and 34, also known as Tulsidas Drainage Union Councils.
The briefing was attended by the Assistant Commissioner City, PEO-CEOC Monitor, DFPSIA, DFPEPI, TMC-FP and other relevant officials.
Dr Hussain appreciated the commitment of polio teams and stressed the need to follow the micro-plans and ensure access to every household. He also directed teams to pay special attention to visiting children and ensure their vaccination.
He instructed officials to maintain the vaccine cold chain, follow prescribed vaccination procedures and properly mark children’s fingers after administering drops. Schoolchildren should be given priority, while registered and unregistered religious seminaries should be covered after 2pm.
The DHO called for special focus on zero-dose children and closed households, directing teams to revisit such houses, strengthen communication with parents and ensure accurate reporting. He also emphasised revisiting missed households on the same day to achieve the campaign targets.
He further directed teams to identify missed vaccination points, particularly households with children under five, to ensure timely vaccination and proper registration.
Dr Hussain said the effective coordination and dedicated efforts of health officials, field teams and supporting organisations were essential to eliminating polio and ensuring that no child was missed during the campaign.
