Islamabad:President Asif Ali Zardari has called for ensuring that technological advancements and artificial intelligence in the tourism sector remain responsible, inclusive and beneficial to the local communities.
Extending his greetings to the people of Pakistan, the global tourism community and travellers on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2026, being observed on September 27, the president, in a message, highlighted how digital transformation is reshaping the industry.
He said this year’s theme, ‘Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism’, highlighted the changes technology and artificial intelligence are bringing to how people plan their journeys, discover destinations, and experience different cultures.
The president said Pakistan has a remarkable diversity of landscapes and experiences, from the mountains of the north and the ancient civilizations of the Indus Valley to its Islamic and Gandhara heritage, cities, deserts and coastal areas.
‘Our greatest strength, however, remains the warmth and hospitality of our people,’ President Secretariat Media Wing, in a press release, quoted the president as saying.
He further observed that tourism could create livelihoods, support local businesses and open opportunities for young people and women, besides, it could also bring economic activity to communities across the country.
At the same time, he stressed the need to protect their natural environment, cultural heritage, and traditions for future generations.
On this World Tourism Day, the president invited travellers from around the world to discover Pakistan, experience their hospitality and see for themselves the beauty and diversity of the country.
‘Let us build a tourism sector that embraces innovation while remaining rooted in our values of hospitality, respect and responsibility. Pakistan welcomes the world with open arms,’ he added.
