MIRPUR (AJK): Vice Chancellor of Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) Brig. (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Javed Tuesday assumed additional charge of Vice Chancellor of University of Kotli (UoK), Azad Jammu Kashmir.
He has a long distinguished career in the field of higher education of science and Technology, was bestowed upon the additional charge of the office of Vice Chancellor of the University of Kotli (UoK) following completion of the stipulated term of the incumbent Vice Chancellor, UoK Prof. Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmed Gardezi in the office as VC UoK on September 20, PRO and Spokesperson of the MUST Varsity Hafeez Bin Mustafa told reporter here.
Elaborating, the MUST spokesperson Hafeez Bin Mustafa said that office of the Vice Chancellor University of Kotli AJK was conferred upon Prof. Dr. Younis Javed by the University Senate (highest regulatory body of University of Kotli of UoK) on Monday, September 26, 2022 in acknowledgement of his outstanding contribution in leading engineering fields while representing Pakistan as International evaluator and owing to his decades long meritorious services for the growth, uplift and development of education system of Pakistan and State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
It is noteworthy to mention here that Brigadier Younis Javed, played a pivotal role in establishing and raising academic and research standards of NUST after joining
NUST in 1991.
He is excellent researcher as well and has 320 research publications to his credit besides publishing 06 books and five book chapters. He has supervised seven PhD scholars and 155 MS theses. He has been scholarship holder throughout his academic career.
Prof. Dr Younis Javeid also served has Head of the Computer Engineering Department of National University of Science & Technology (NUST) College of E&ME for 12 years and Dean for four years from 2011 to 2015. Before his appointment as Vice Chancellor of Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur on June 28, 2021 for tenure of five years (05), he served HITEC University Taxila as Dean of Engineering & Technology and Professor in 2015 and later he was appointed Vice Chancellor of HITEC University.
Engr. Brig. (R) Prof Dr Muhammad Younus Javed received his MSc and Ph D degrees from the University of Dundee, Scotland (UK) in 1988 and 1991 respectively. Earlier he completed his BSc Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore in 1982. He did his FSc from Government Degree College Bhimber and Matric from Government High School Dhandar Kalan.
He is member of Engineering Accreditation Board of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Convener of Engineering Curriculum Review and Development Committee of PEC and member of Executive Committee of National Technology Council of Pakistan, the varsity spokesperson, PRO said adding that Prof. Dr. Younis Javeid is also performing as Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Program Evaluator as he, so far, evaluated a series of of programs within the country and abroad.
