PSC, research institutes must develop hybrid seeds

LAHORE:Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Hussain Jahania Gardezi has said that the Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) should work with the research institutes to develop hybrid seeds of different crops.

He was presiding over the Punjab Seed Corporation’s board meeting here on Saturday.

PSC Managing Director Fazlur Rehman briefed the meeting about the purchase of seeds for wheat and other crops of Kharif and Rabi season.

Minister Gardezi ordered for bringing reforms in the farm management wing of Punjab Seed Corporation. He said that targets should be set for the officers and staff of the PSC to achieve the desired results.

Punjab Agriculture Secretary Asad Rehman Gillani directed the PSC to sign a memorandum of understanding with Rice Research Institute Kala Shah Kaku to develop good hybrid paddy seed.

In future only those employees of the PSC would get bonus who would show good performance and meet given targets, he added.
